East of England Rural Forum (EERF) Vibrant Rural Communities - ACTION PLAN

I am pleased to send you a copy of the East of England Rural Forum's Action Plan for the achievement of our recommendations in the rural white paper, Vibrant Rural Communities. All these papers and related information will shortly be posted onto our web site, www.eerf.org.uk.

The actions were identified in three consultation events, across the East of England, attended by over 120 organisations, businesses, local government representatives and individuals who debated how to achieve the ambitions in the rural white paper. They agreed that action should focus on:

· Local people and communities taking a greater role in planning for their community’s success;

· Making the case for rural areas to LEPs, local and central government to secure the resources needed to deliver sustainable rural communities;

· Developing new innovative solutions that can be delivered at a time of budgetary constraint.

We believe that you and your organization have an important role to play in the delivery of our stated actions and we look forward to working with you for the benefit of our region and its residents.

I hope you find the papers at the Link interesting and I look forward to your continued support and assistance with the work of the Forum.

I would be pleased to have any comments you have on its content for discussion by the EERF Steering Group.
